Crawley’s Number One Footballing Son Honoured With A Festive Favourite

This Christmas, fans of the beautiful game and the traditional festive favourite, the annual are in for a treat as Crawley’s number one footballing son, England manager Gareth Southgate is honoured with his very own book. Following a memorable summer when football almost came home and 52 years of hurt nearly came to an end, Pavillion Books has published The Unofficial Gareth Southgate Annual for 2018.

The book, a hilarious spoof annual honouring England manager Gareth Southgate will rekindle memories of annuals of days gone by for those who grew up in the 1970s, 80s and 90s when annuals were a firm festive fixture for children and teenagers across the UK.

Now, The Unofficial Gareth Southgate Annual is officially the only 100% unofficial annual to feature the man who as a player famously missed a penalty and clutched defeat from the jaws of victory, only to turn that 22 years of hurt into a series of nail-biting wins in Russia.

Although he did not succeed in steering the exciting new England team to a glorious final, this year’s man of the moment is Gareth Southgate. This book is for anyone who remembers Euro ’96 as the golden age and is now dusting off their cynicism and reliving their youth.

The annual is also the perfect read for a whole new generation of untarnished England fans who reveled in England’s glory run in Russia and who can look forward to next summer’s UEFA Nations League in Portugal, and also lovers of a well-turned-out waistcoat.
