Sussex, Surrey and Beyond
Bucket List Travels
You told us you wanted more travel articles and we listened! So, to get the ball rolling, this month the Uncovered team have been busy discussing some of our bucket list destinations – both in stunning Surrey and Sussex and further afield to inspire you.
Close to home
All too often, we forget the beauty we have on our very own doorstep – the rolling hills of the countryside, the miles upon miles of striking beaches and the acres of nature. When creating your very own to-visit list, don’t forget to include all those places and things you’ve wanted to do locally, but have always put-off; just because you don’t need to travel far, it still very much counts!
Our Director Nikki Relffe-Arnold has always wanted to board the Bluebell Railway and enjoy an afternoon tea as she takes a journey through the countryside. Living in Sussex all her life, she
can’t believe she hasn’t booked herself in yet.
If, like Nikki, you’d like to see Sussex in serious style, the Bluebell Railway runs special services throughout the year; including Murder Mystery evenings, Southern at War and regular afternoon teas (between February and November).
Staying on the luxurious theme, feature writer Shelley Baker, fancies a relaxing spa break in one of our local, high rating hotels.
“Visiting sumptuous hotels with spas, such as Alexander House in Turners Hill, Ashdown Park in Forest Row or Nutfield Priory in Redhill, sounds like the perfect way to spend a weekend,” she says.
“I suppose I’ve just never got round to doing it, because they are so close-by, but the fact that I don’t need to travel means that this is one bucket list treat that I should be able to tick off quickly!”
Further afield
From seeing the Northern Lights to trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, overseas travel rates highly on most people’s travel bucket lists.
That also includes sales team member Heather Porter who has firmly put a visit to Vietnam and Cambodia at the top of her wish list. Heather hopes to one day take a trip to the cultural countries, taking in all the sites (and street food!) on board a traditional river boat.
Also planning a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia? Don’t forget to check out breath-taking Hue (where the Nguyen emperors once lived), soak up the atmosphere in historic Hoi An and the bustling Ho Chi Minh City, which played a pivotal role in the Vietnam War. In Cambodia, uncover Phnom Penh’s history and culture and pay a visit to Angkor’s awe-inspiring temples, for a trip to remember forever!
Keen traveller and our production manager, Christine Seymour, has already had her passport stamped in both Vietnam and Cambodia, along with a whole host of other exotic destinations and she’s now set her sights on a holiday to Australia. Not one to hang around, Christine has booked to take a thirty day trip Down Under for October!
“I’m really looking forward to it,” she says. “We’ll be travelling across the whole of the country and seeing everything – from the Great Barrier Reef to Ayers Rock.”
