Surrey Stars Selected For This Year’s The Hundred

This year looks set to see an extremely exciting summer of cricket with the arrival of a new competition, The Hundred, a 100-ball cricket contest played in seven UK cities with eight men’s and women’s teams going head-to-head.

A draft event for the competition has seen nine Surrey players picked for the competition with Jason Roy, Sam Curran and Tom Curran by Oval Invincibles, and Rory Burns chosen by the London Spirit as their red-ball centrally contracted player.

Ben Foakes was the first Surrey player chosen in the TV-screened draft, by Northern Superchargers for £60,000, England star Liam Plunkett, and Ollie Pope went in the £50,000 category to Welsh Fire and Southern Brave respectively.

Will Jacks was then picked up by Oval Invincibles for £40,000, and Jade Dernbach was the final Surrey man to go – heading to the Lord’s based London Spirit for £30,000 for The Hundred which will take place later this year during July and August.
