Maidenbower Schools’ Firework Night was a Roaring Success

Maidenbower Schools’ Firework Night Was A Roaring Success

By Elaine Jenkins, Headteacher of Maidenbower Junior School

Maidenbower Infant School, The Brook Infant and Nursery and Maidenbower Junior School would like to say a HUGE thank you to the children, parents and the whole of our Maidenbower Community for their support in purchasing and attending our annual Fireworks event which took place last Friday.

The evening has grown over time from a small germ of an idea had by a group of parents on Maidenbower Infant School’s PTA roughly 20 years ago and has blossomed into the spectacular event I hope you witnessed last week.

Nowadays, it is organised by keen PTA volunteers across all three schools and marshalled by most of our teaching staff, whose aim is to ensure that each school has an equal share of the profits, and therefore is able to add value to our school’s teaching curriculum by being able to engage visiting speakers who can share their expertise with the children or for our children to have the opportunity to get out and see life through different eyes.

How lovely it was on Friday 5th November, to see a clear sky pierced with the merry lights of the funfair and beautifully presented fireworks from the Merlin firework company, lighting up the night sky and all set to music by another volunteer family. I wonder if anyone spotted the dancing and spinning ballerina?

Our three-school firework event will be held next year on Friday 3rd November 2023 with our Maidenbower Junior School gates opening to spectators at 6 pm. Ensure that it is a date in YOUR diary!
