Local 12-year-old with own baking business is offering her skills to the community!

We spoke to Ella about how she got started and what’s to come, here’s what she said.

“Hello! My name is Ella and I am the owner of Ella’s Bakery. I am only 12 years of age but have been baking since I was just 4. I have a huge passion for baking and decided to launch “Ella’s Bakery” in January last year. It’s always been a dream to start my own baking business, and one day I would love to have a shop of my own.”

“When I was 8 years old, I did a bake sale from my house to raise money for MND (Motor Neurone Disease) as my Grandad was diagnosed with this disease. It’s a cruel disease that affects the nerves in your brain and spinal cord which results in difficulty of the way you walk, talk, eat, drink and breath. We managed to raise £1,200! Please go to mndassociation.org for more information and to donate to the good cause.”

“In 2022 I started to look into building my business and created my logo. I got my food hygiene rating certificate as 5 star and was very excited.”

“In March 2023 I did my first bake sale at a local fair and was shocked at how well it went, I also got my first online order, I have now done 9 fairs.”

“Whenever I can, I like to drop off cakes and bakes to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, in the A&E ward for the amazing, hardworking doctors and nurses.”

“I have just launched my new website which is ellasbakery.store where you can order a selection of cakes and bakes for a treat for yourself, to share or as a gift to others. You can personalise your cupcakes from colour, design and flavour. They are all freshly made by me and delivered to your door.”

“I am also running a competition. Head over to my website and sign up to our newsletter to be in for a chance of winning some baked goods!”
