Town’s Probus Club Celebrates 400 Lunches

In the autumn of last year, Haywards Heath & District Probus Club celebrated its 400th lunch meeting with a ladies invitation lunch at Lindfield Golf Club, with guest of honour, the late Brian Gubbin, who initiated the formation of the club 33 years-ago.

Brian Gubbin, who sadly passed away shortly after the lunch reminisced about his role in forming the club which saw the first meeting take place at the Golden Eagle in Haywards  Heath, with 19 members in attendance, today, the club has more than 50 members.

Meeting at Lindfield Golf Club on the second Wednesday of each month for lunch, usually
with a guest speaker, wives, partners and widows of former members are invited to meetings in April, October and December, and the Club has a rich and varied programme of events.

Club President, Otto Somodi said: “We are all very saddened to learn of Brian’s death and pass on our best wishes and condolences to his family. It was a great pleasure to have Brian Gubbin join us at Lindfield Golf Club to celebrate our 400th meeting.”
