Take On Twickenham & Step Up To The Stadium Challenge

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, a charity which cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families throughout Surrey invites you to take on one of the first events of its kind in England, The Stadium Challenge. The fundraising event is the chance to step right up and take on rugby unions’s iconic Twickenham Stadium, and its 7,600 steps whilst raising your heart rate and money.

On Saturday, March 23, the home of English rugby union will host the charity’s biggest climbing challenge to date and marks the first time Twickenham Stadium has ever hosted such an event. Combining ultimate ups and daring downs in one sport’s most iconic surroundings, and with three varied routes available, it is the perfect event for all ages and abilities to raise money for a good cause.

The ultra-route will be certain to get your legs pumping as you tackle the three tiers and the 7,600 steps of the stadium, while the classic-route takes you up and down the lower tier of the stadium, with 3,200 steps. There is also a step-free family-route, which is two or more laps around the edge of the pitch – allowing younger participants of all ages and fitness levels to soak up the atmosphere.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices relies on donations for 90% of its funding, these contributions help provide respite care, short breaks, family activities and pre and post-bereavement support. Just £230 raised at Twickenham could pay for a day visit to one of the charity’s Surrey hospices, including a special swim in the hydrotherapy pool and use of the sensory room, giving families precious time together.

Whichever route you choose to take, you will be helping babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. The pre-event deadline for signing-up closes on Thursday, March 21, with limited places also available on the day, for more information about the fundraising event at the home of rugby legends, and to sign-up, visit: www.shootingstarchase.org.uk/stadium-challenge
