Surrey Musician Bryony’s Hitting All The Right Notes
Surrey-based musician Bryony Dunn is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is proving to be hitting all the right notes. Hot on the heels of her single Golden Girl, she is now working on new material with multi-platinum selling song writing stars such as Charlie Dore and Dominic King.
Surrey singing sensation, 21-year-old Bryony Dunn has been wowing audiences with her passionate live performances across the county. The self-confessed music addict says she has been either writing or singing all her life, for the past four years she has been performing her own material and now has a series of tracks under her belt as well as stage appearances alongside greats of the music industry.
In her latest track, Full Bloom, which was released in April Bryony draws upon her experiences as a Surrey teenager. She explains that it also captures something of the magic of the Narnia-like Surrey Hills where she grew up. Bryony also takes inspiration from acclaimed artists like Fleetwood Mac, Lorde and Taylor Swift all of whom feature in her music loving father’s extensive record collection.
Speaking about her love for music, Bryony says: “Since I could speak, I have sung. I love to write, and I have been lucky enough to write and work with some fantastic writers and they inspire me so much with the amazing work that they do! Charlie Dore, Tom Read and AMBR are all amazing artists! I have listened to a variety of music and have some very diverse influences that change all the time!”
Bryony began writing song lyrics whilst still in primary school and throughout her school years she studied the violin, clarinet and bass guitar. Her first taste of singing an original song in public was at her GCSE school concert which was so well received that Bryony decided that public performing was for her and audience acclaim was soon to follow as she performed more and more to audiences.
As well as performing original pieces of work and covers of classic hits, Bryony has demonstrated her talent for performing arts and musical theatre, she has starred in a number of successful student musicals throughout her time at school, college and university playing roles including Reno in Anything Goes, Bombalurina in Cats, Killer Queen in We Will Rock You and Baker’s Wife in Into The Woods.
As she makes her way in the music industry and turns up the volume what is Bryony’s advice for others who hope to reach similar heady musical heights? Bryony’s advice for any aspiring musician is very simply, she says: “Get out there and just do it! Head down to an open mic, play one song, play three just get used to playing for a crowd and you’ll find it’s much less scary than it seems!”
