Successful Careers Hub Extended To East Sussex Primary Schools

Primary school pupils across East Sussex can now be inspired by the world of work after East Sussex County Council was awarded £145,000 to extend its careers hub to primary schools.

Since last month, the county council has been able to develop a new careers strategy that covers the full range from aged five to 19, or 24 for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) pupils.

Cllr Bob Standley, lead member for education and inclusion, special educational needs and disability (ISEND), said: “We’ve seen huge improvements in career support and links between our schools and local employers in the first year of our Careers Hub for secondary schools and we are confident that scaling up that support, to cover our primary age pupils, will provide a further boost for careers.”

East Sussex County Council is one of seven organisations, and the only local authority to receive funding, it believes the hub will raise the aspirations.
