Reigate School Students Listen To Holocaust Survivor’s Testimony

During the summer term, students at Reigate’s Dunottar School heard a heartfelt testimony from Holocaust survivor Rudi Oppenheimer as part of a visit to the school organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET).

Mark Tottman, headmaster at Dunottar School, said: “It is a privilege for us to welcome Rudi Oppenheimer to Dunottar, and his testimony will remain a powerful reminder of the horrors so many experienced. We hope that by hearing Rudi’s testimony, it has encouraged our pupils to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.”

The visit, part of the HET’s year-round outreach programme was followed by a question and answer session to provide students with a greater understanding of the nature of the Holocaust.

Karen Pollock MBE, chief executive of the HET, said: “The HET educates and engages students from across the UK, from all communities, about the Holocaust, and there can be no better way
than through the first-hand testimony of a survivor. Rudi’s story is one of tremendous courage during horrific circumstances.”
