Ardingly-Based Society Names Assignment Winners

Ardingly-based, The South of England Agricultural Society has announced four students – Ben Willdig from Hampshire, Jo Owens and Clare Peffers from Surrey, and Lesley Shipway from Sussex – have been selected as winners of its prestigious 2019 Student Assignment Competition.

Open to all students at land-based colleges in the south of England, including Plumpton College and Sparsholt College, in Hampshire, the competition is designed to encourage research, to improve knowledge and develop core study skills in courses including agriculture and floristry.

All competition winners and runners-up were presented with prizes – a top prize of £150 for first place, £75 for scooping second place, and £50 for finishing in third place – by The South of England Agricultural Society’s 2019 President, the highly-respected Sir Richard Kleinwort.

Speaking about the competition, Sir Richard, said: “A huge congratulations to all our 2019 Student Assignment prize winners. It is an absolute delight to see so many wonderful and well-thought entries being submitted to this competition.”
