Gatwick Backs West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service Campaign

Gatwick Airport has pledged its backing for the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’s award winning Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow and has committed £10,000 to the 2020/21 roadshow.

The hard-hitting show, which has been delivered to more than 8,000 students in previous years, includes first-hand accounts from the victims, family members and 999 responders.

The show highlights dangers that young drivers may encounter including excessive speed, inexperience, drink, drugs and peer pressure, since 2006 it has reached more than 112,000 students.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service chief fire officer, Sabrina Cohen-Hatton, says: “I am delighted that Gatwick Airport has recognised the value of the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow.”

Melanie Wrightson, community engagement manager at Gatwick Airport, said: “The impact that the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow has on students is undeniably positive and we are proud to help.”
