Council Grants Boost Mid Sussex Projects

Mid Sussex District Council has provided more than £115,000 in funding to help sports clubs and community organisations in the area to improve facilities and the services which they provide.

The Mid Sussex District Council Cabinet Grants Panel met at the end of last year to discuss grant funding and the allocation of Section (S) 106 developer contributions which totalled £115,494.

Haywards Heath Tennis Club received £65,040 of S106 funding towards a new clubhouse at Victoria Park in the town as it is keen to help more people discover the health and social benefits of tennis.

The Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity in Cuckfield received £3,478 to help children with Cerebral Palsy and other motor learning impairments to develop together physically, socially and emotionally.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day on May 8, 2020 a three-day celebration will take place from May 8 to May 10, the council has agreed to provide grants of £250 for street parties.
