Town’s Probus Members Learn Of The Role Of Women In British History

Members of Haywards Heath and District Probus Club, a club for retired or semi-retired people enjoyed a presentation by respected historian Mark Perry-Nash on The Role of Women in the History of Britain.

The presentation spanning from the Roman era to the present day, featured historical figures including Cartimandua, Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria and Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher.

Haywards Heath and District Probus Club was formed in 1985, with a first meeting taking place at the Golden Eagle in Haywards Heath, with an initial attendance of 19 people, the group has since grown.

Today, the club has around 50 members which meet at Lindfield Golf Club on the second Wednesday of each month for lunch, usually with a guest speaker, and the club enjoys a rich programme of events.
