Horsham Bridge Club

What is Bridge? Bridge is a popular, fun, and challenging card game, played by millions of people across the world. People play because they enjoy it.

You can learn through a course at your local club, and then you can enjoy playing with friends and family of any age. All you need is a pack of cards, a table, and some like-minded people. Bridge players love the mental challenge. Each game played will offer a unique challenge of problems and solutions. Every single deal is different; every deal poses a new problem and the challenge of finding the solution is a great source of enjoyment – even more so if you find the answer!

Players love the social side of bridge, spending an enjoyable time with like minded people. You can extend your enjoyment with bridge holidays and special events.

If you’ve been thinking about welcoming a pet into your life, we’d love you to consider a retired racing greyhound. Whether you’re looking for a walking companion, a friendly face to greet you at the end of the day or simply a loyal friend to share your home, there could be a greyhound that’s the perfect match for you.

Our experienced team is always happy to answer your questions and help you learn more about the breed and the homing process. Every greyhound is an individual, and we’ll work with you to find the right match for your home and lifestyle.

Recent academic work has shown a link between mental activity and maintenance – or even improvements – in mental health and wellbeing. Research has found that the social interaction that can come from playing bridge can be a key to a long and happy life:

Research by Stirling University, in conjunction with the charity English Bridge Education and Development, found that playing bridge has a statistically significant positive effect on well-being. Other studies have found that activities such as playing bridge reduces the incidences of dementia. Bridge is also recognised as an important contributor to socialisation, with many people enjoying the ‘community spirit’ that exists within a bridge club. Recent research at the University of Leipzig found that those taking up new activities involving other people, are more likely to see an increase in their ‘well being’ than those who start solo pursuits.
