Having been selected as the Mayor’s chosen charities for 2026/7, East Grinstead & District Lions Club and HerMove are ramping up to host the Mayor’s October quiz.
The East Grinstead Lions are a friendly, enthusiastic group of volunteers who support the local community through fundraising events and community projects. Formed in 1968, they have been making a difference in the local community ever since.
To do this, they rely on fundraising activities such as the May Fair, Prize Advent Calendar and Christmas card sales, and event refreshment stalls. The money raised enables them to support people in the local community through initiatives including the annual free Prostate Screening Event, the Senior Citizens’ Party, and the Warm over Winter project, which helps those experiencing fuel poverty. They also donate equipment to schools, local charities, and community groups, while supporting families and individuals whenever a need arises.
HerMove, is a newly formed group whose aim is to support women and girls of all ages and abilities to feel confident, included and empowered through sport, movement and physical activity. They aim to raise awareness of the barriers that cause women and girls to stop participating in sport and physical activity and to work within the community to effect positive change.
