Summer Maternity Style

Knowing what to wear at any time of year can be a challenge, if you happen to be dressing a baby bump and the temperatures are rising, the challenge can be far greater. With the long, hot summer days of July here, what look should expectant mums search for to ensure that they are both stylish and practical?

After flaming June comes July, and if the temperatures set the mercury rising this month, what looks can help pregnant mums beat the heat and feel comfortable and beautiful? Maternity wear can be expensive and as it is worn for a limited time, it is likely that expectant mums will not want to buy clothes which might spend more time in the wardrobe.

Go Lightweight!
Choosing lightweight clothes is a must for the hot summer months, by going lightweight and choosing materials like cotton, expectant mums can stay cool. Whether pregnant or not, in the summer months it is always best to avoid synthetic fabrics such as polyester as these can lead to increased sweat levels, think not only about the material, think about the colour of clothing too as dark clothes absorb heat.

Put Your Best Foot Forward
Swollen feet are a common condition for pregnant women, think about what you plan to wear on your feet this summer. Think about buying open-toed and wide-fitting shoes or flip flops which will allow your feet to breathe and prevent them being squashed and dug in by uncomfortable straps and tongues.

Make A Splash!
Being pregnant does not mean that you cannot enjoy making a splash and going for a swim this summer, however, just make sure that you invest in a maternity swimsuit. When it comes to packing your suitcase, you will need a maternity swimsuit as a regular one will not be able to beat the bump!

Go For A Hair Raising Experience
Keeping cool on a summer’s day, no matter whether you are pregnant or not, an easy way to help stay on the cool side is to keep your hair off your face. By keeping your hair off your face, either by styling it in a top-knot bun or by tying it back you can help to tackle the worst of the sticky summer humidity.
