Make the Most of your Summer at Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway is one of the UK’s best-loved heritage railways, offering visitors a unique journey into the golden age of steam. Running through the heart of the Sussex countryside, it operates a beautifully restored 11-mile line between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, with stops at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote.

Founded in 1959, the Bluebell Railway was Britain’s first preserved standard gauge passenger railway and has grown into a thriving attraction for families, rail enthusiasts, and history lovers alike. Its impressive collection of steam locomotives and vintage carriages reflects a century of railway heritage, from Victorian elegance to the mid-20th century.

Visitors can enjoy a nostalgic ride in lovingly maintained carriages, visit award-winning stations, and explore interactive museums. Events run year-round, including themed days, dining trains, and family-friendly experiences such as Baby Dino Days and Santa Specials.

Kids for a quid travel offer will be in place every weekend and public holiday in 2025 (excluding special events) with any fare paying adult. For T&C’s, please see our website.

All Day Rover tickets allow for unlimited flexible travel on standard train running days. Passengers can join and hop on and off at any station. For T&C’s, please see our website.

The railway also offers dining experiences like the Golden Arrow Pullman and the Wealden Rambler, blending fine food with timeless travel.

Operated almost entirely by dedicated volunteers, the Bluebell Railway celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2025, marking decades of preserving Britain’s steam heritage for future generations to enjoy.
