The London Harness Horse Parade 2026

The London Harness Horse Parade is proud and honoured to announce that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO continues to be its Royal Patron.

Join us on Easter Monday, 6 April 2026, for the London Harness Horse Parade at the South of England Centre, Ardingly, RH17 6TL. Featuring transport through the ages, the Parade brings together over a hundred horse-drawn vehicles alongside historic and classic motorised vehicles. First held in 1885, this popular Easter event shows the transition from horse power to mechanical transport. Admission costs £10 per adult, with children and parking free. Visitors can enjoy classic cars, trade stands, refreshments and horse-drawn wagon rides.

This year, visitors can meet a Chelsea Pensioner from the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Regular guests at the Parade, these respected Army veterans wear scarlet coats and black peaked caps and symbolise a lifetime of service. There may be an opportunity to take a photograph with one, a rare privilege.

Owners of horse-drawn or historic and classic motorised vehicles are welcome to take part, helping depict transport through the ages. The event unites the London Cart Horse Parade, founded in 1885, and the London Van Horse Parade, started in 1904. For generations, carriage-driving families have made this annual Easter pilgrimage.
The 2026 Parade starts at 9.00 am with static displays from car exhibitors and stationary engines. Veterinary and Farriery inspections begin at 10.15 am, followed by judging of light and heavy horse turnouts at 10.30 am. Gates open at 8.00 am for spectators to watch preparations, explore exhibits, visit trade stands and enjoy refreshments. The Main Parade and prize presentations follow at about 12.30–1.00 pm.

After moving from central London in 2006, the Parade continues to thrive at the South of England Centre, offering space, access and free parking. As a registered charity, it promotes high standards of horse care, management and cleanliness.

Tickets are £10 per adult. Children enter free.
